The Gujarat Cricket Association owns and controls the venue.

The stadium was originally constructed in 1983 and was called the Motera Stadium. It underwent a massive renovation beginning in 2015. The renovation aimed to turn the stadium into a state-of-the-art, world-class facility.

It has 4 dressing rooms, 11 centre pitches and 2 practice grounds with multiple pitches and nets.

The stadium has red and black soil pitches that offer different cricketing experiences. 

This allows cricketers to prepare on a wide variety of surfaces to suit different formats of the game. 

It prides itself on its high-tech drainage facilities, ensuring that even heavy downpours don’t dampen the spirit of the game.

One of the standout features is the absence of floodlight towers. Instead, the stadium has an innovative LED lighting system integrated into the roof, providing uniform illumination across the field.
